KARIM RASHID: IDEOLOGY OF BEAUTY

Museum of Contemporaray Art Zagreb presents one of the world’s most productive and appreciated designers today who many with good reason call a „designer star“ – Karim Rashid.
Exhibition Ideology of Beauty will open on October 20th 2012.

Working in 35 countries in the world, he is author of more than 3000 realised designs, and was awarded with more than 300 important awards, as such being perceived worldwide as a living legend of design. Diversity and enormous range of Karim Rashid's talent and interest, as well as ability to easily skip from one field of interest to another using different materials while playing with ideas and esthetics, helps him to trully expend horizons of contemporary design.

Karim Rashid presents his designer's objects such as Love Chair, Blobulous, Lava, Vertex, Pleasurescape, DNA which during the last few decades attracted attention of designers and fascinated users. Those objects, in form of shape and technology, moved the boundaries of design.

The exhibition is designed as a dispute between art and design. The objects designed by Karim Rashid are put into dialogue with artworks displayed in the Collection in Motion, the permanent collection of the Museum, which indisputably represents a challenge and contributes to particularity of this exhibition.

In the form of multimedia presentation, in The Museum of Contemporary Art, Karim Rashid will present his exceptional philosophy of design and will announce his vision for the future, potentially initiating an interactive exchange and dialogue.

The exhibition is realised in collaboration with Die Neue Sammlung -The Intenational Design Museum, München.
