The Neverending Painting Symposium is conceived as a sort of a platform for exchange of experiences of international scholars, critics and art historians from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Hungary, focused on the research of current tendencies of the painting practice. The aim of the symposium is to determine the tendencies in recent painting production with special emphasis on the countries of the Middle-European region, in relation to their historical, theoretical and cultural connection, and to open discussion on the stage of current critical discourse of painting medium today. We hope that the symposium will contribute to the vast theoretical research by means of determining the current position of the painting medium, as well as act as stimuli for new knowledge, and new, similar projects (panel discussions, publications, exhibition projects). Presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings on English and Croatian.

As part of the symposium, two guided tours has been organized, one on the permanent display of Museum of Contemporary Art Collection in Motion and other on Zlatan Vehabović’s exhibition Foundations in Ground as well as talk with artist. In addition one-day panel discussion in Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst & Medien, (KM–Graz) has been organized as a satellite program of the symposium.
