French artist François Morellet, who contributed to the New Tendencies movement in the sixties, began to paint his compositions, based on abstract systems, in 1956, during the supremacy of the new Paris School, lyrical abstraction, and informal painting in France. His geometrical compositions are carefully executed in order to eliminate all personal traces from painting strokes and to bring it as close as possible to mechanical execution.
