On Friday, February 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. MSU Zagreb is organizing a public symposium Nothing about us without us! Working with visually impaired individuals as part of the EU project BEAM UP: Blind Engagement in Accessible MUseum Projects.
Starting with the contextualization of the slogan "Nothing about us without us!", the focus of the Symposium will be on the experience of working with blind and partially sighted people in the study, analysis and presentation of contemporary works of art in a multi-sensory way. Through presentations by representatives of the BEAM UP project partners (Atlante Servizi Culturali and Institute for the Blind from Italy, and The Glucksman, University College Cork, Ireland), the audience will learn more about different approaches and methods of presenting contemporary art to visually impaired people, practical ways of adapting the space and its interior design to the needs of visitors with disabilities, and various programs and activities carried out within the BEAM UP project with special emphasis on close cooperation with blind and partially sighted members of the project's local expert groups.
