EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) is a network of European national cultural institutes and organisations dedicated to fostering cultural cooperation and relations worldwide. Bringing together 36 members from all 27 EU Member States, EUNIC operates through more than 120 clusters, promoting trust and mutual understanding through arts and culture.

The European Inclusive Arts Festival Art4All is a project initiated by the European cultural institutes and embassies united within the EUNIC Croatia network, in collaboration with the Centre for Rehabilitation Zagreb and its inclusive art gallery Art&CeRZe. The project aims to promote, support and advance the inclusion and acceptance of artists with disabilities within the cultural sector. Although diversity is recognised as a fundamental European value, artists with disabilities remain underrepresented in mainstream cultural programmes, primarily due to limited accessibility, insufficient visibility and a lack of opportunities for participation.

At the same time, cultural institutes possess significant yet still underutilised potential for developing more inclusive programmes and engaging audiences more actively. Art4All responds to this challenge by creating and organising an inclusive festival in Zagreb that brings together local and international artists and offers a diverse artistic programme, including exhibitions, art workshops and accessible performances.

The group exhibition at the inclusive art gallery Art&CeRZe will feature works by artists with intellectual disabilities from the Centre for Rehabilitation Zagreb (participants in the Art&CeRZe visual arts programme mentored by Blanka Stančić Puhak, MFA, Croatia), Austrian artist Barbara Salaun, Hungarian artist with intellectual disabilities Krisztina Hermann, and Slovenian artists who paint with their mouths or feet: Željko Vertelj, Erik Pibernik and Dominik Lozar. These Slovenian mouth and foot painting artists (Željko Vertelj, Eric Pibernik and Dominik Lozar), together with associated artists Dejana Nežić (Serbia) and Stjepan Perković (Croatia), will lead visual arts workshops involving users of the Centre for Rehabilitation Zagreb, students from art schools and academies, and other interested participants.

The group exhibition will also feature seven works by three artists (Laila Bachtiar, Johann Hauser, Oswald Tschirtner) from the renowned Austrian Art Brut Center Gugging. The private collector Hannah Rieger will also give a lecture on Art Brut and the Gugging Artists.

The professional segment of the festival will include a full-day training programme for museum professionals entitled “Welcoming Visitors with Disabilities”, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. The training will be conducted by Coline Ardouin, an expert from Souffleurs de Sens, a French organisation dedicated to inclusivity in culture and the arts, particularly for persons with disabilities. The programme will provide essential knowledge on accessibility and welcoming visitors to cultural institutions.

In the field of dance, audiences can look forward to inclusive dance workshops led by Italian and Spanish choreographers and artists Alessandro Schiattarella (Italy) and Alfonso Palomares (Spain), as well as their dance performances created in collaboration with Iva Nerina Sibila, a Croatian contemporary dance artist, choreographer and educator (Divert). The programme will also include a screening of the documentary film “No hay errores”, dedicated to an inclusive festival in Spain (the Diversario Festival held in the northern city of Huesca), as well as an exhibition by French artist Margot at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition programme will include an inclusive guided tour led by the artist and Daniela Bilopavlović Bedenik (museum advisor / Collection of Marginal Art) and an accompanying workshop.

Users of the Centre for Rehabilitation Zagreb, students of the Academy of Dramatic Art at the University of Zagreb, and students of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Zagreb will perform the inclusive theatre production “Slučajno ja”, inspired by Peter Handke’s play Kaspar. Reflections by experts and artists on the challenges of inclusion will be presented during the panel discussion “Creative Pulse – An Inclusive Perspective in the Performing Arts”, moderated by Associate Professor Damir Miholić, PhD (Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia), organised by the Centre for Rehabilitation Zagreb in collaboration with experts in the field, Vanda Kos, graduate social pedagogue, and Martina Zubčić Maretić, professor of special education.
