Film and Video Collection

Film and Video Collection

This collection includes 456 films and videos created since the 1960s.

The work of Croatian and international artists from the 1960s and 1970s is revealed as particularly important with regard to the evolution of film and video. Within this group of materials, it is possible to distinguish three thematic areas:

1. experimental film: the work of Ivan Ladislav Galeta and Tomislav Gotovac
2. films and videos by artists whose activity can be considered in the framework of various practices of conceptual art: Marina Abramović, André Cadere, Alain Fleischer, Sarkis, Goran Trbuljak, Sanja Iveković, Dalibor Martinis, Željko Kipke, Boris Bućan, and Radomir Damnjanović-Damnjan
3. works that investigate the possibilities of video technology as an entirely new artistic medium by using the procedures of representation, e.g. Nan Hoover.

The collection also includes videos and video installations by Croatian and international artists who since the 1980s have experimented with the technologies of producing social identities, or rather subjects, in the context of various discursive practices: Dennis Adams, Marina Abramović, Simon Bogojević-Narath, Dorothy Cross, Ivan Faktor, Sanja Iveković, Dalibor Martinis, Katarzyna Kozyra, Ana Opalić, Egla Rakauskaitte, Deimantas Narkevicius, and Kristina Leko.
